I agree with you on the sookie stackhouse series...the hbo show seemed so slow... what did it cover 2 chapters of the first book?? Have you read her books in the Harper Connelly series? I enjoyed those too. A psychic main character but no vampires.

I've read a couple of the Anita blake ones and I just went through my books today and found the rest so I am going to try and finish those.

I hadn't heard of Keri Arthur's books. I will have to check those out.

Thanks for the recommend!

I like the Sookie Stackhouse books. I was already a fan of Charlaine Harris' mysteries, and I think she does very clever things with Sookie and company.

I liked the first few Anita Blake books, but like a lot of people, I got tired of the series after a while. Too much of the same thing over and over, and too much grautitous sex for me. Plus the main character became a real "Mary Sue," which irks me. That's one of the things that bugged me about the Twilight books, too.

You might enjoy the Thrall trilogy by C.T. Adams and Cathy Clamp -- Touch of Evli, Touch of Madness & Touch of Darkness. That has vampires, werewolves, and a really powerful romance plotline -- along with a kick-ass heroine and a lot of "normal" people allying with or standing up to the supernatural when necessary. I thought it was a good read. So are the books I've read in Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series, although the main character in those is male. They are fun, action-packed, and they move fast.
Laurel K. Hamilton has always been one of my favorite writers, I usually read a lot of fantasy, but at the same time I read quite a lot of things that are different, but Hamilton's books, as well as Anne Rice's books, always keep me comming back for more. I wasn't aware of the new one comming out so I'll keep a looks. Blood Noir was hard to come by thankfully my friend had a copy so I snagged it from her.

I also got lured into the paranormal literature after the Twlight series, and have read Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse & Harper Connelly series. I am really hoping she writes another Harper Connelly book cause I am hooked..

I just started the Laurel K Hamilton books on Anita Blake..far more violent than usually read, but I'm not turning away yet.

Sookie Stackhouse huh? This seems very interesting of a read! I'm definitely adding this as part of my "read next" category with entertainment reads. I have to say I'm semi-turned off with the Twilight series from what Endymionette has told me and from what you say, this seems up my alley.
